If the performers don't understand it, we make sure that they do by providing examples. They are encouraged to discuss what the literature is trying to say. It makes no sense in creating a new number if they do not understand what it means. Once they do, they work begins in putting on something new. It's a a great feeling to see such a group effort put something together.
In this course, educators will learn how to support the needs of adolescent and young adults, helping them develop into confident, and independent readers and writers. Focus will be on the improvement of literacy skills through meaningful, constructive engagements in reading and writing.

Professional Development
I have been with the cultural dance group Inetnon Gefpa'go for about a year as a musician. And to tell you the truth, none of the dance numbers are never put together without having the performers reading the literature about a certain legend or story, and understanding what it means. When that is done, the groups would be split to do some creative thinking and putting something together, but with a constant look back into the literature. This is how things get done with this group. Literature is important as much as carrying the traditions and culture.

Sounds fun to read literature and dance. Does your group perform on the Weedends or weekdays. That should be a great fieldtrip for students to attend and learn about culture and education.

I agree, it's a great extracurricular that you are doing - tying in culture and literature with the thing you love to do! It's putting what you are gifted with in to good use!
