Today was a better day in tech-education land!

Okay, so we've made it thru another multifaceted day of tests, forums, blogs, Facebook messages, and the normal day to day activities, such as remembering to pick up the kids from daycare. Whew! For me, yesterday was mental breakdown day where all the walls seemed to be closing in. As I sat with my family, supposedly having a birthday dinner for my nephew, I felt so stressed out and things did not seem to make sense. So in the midst of everyone's social on-going I literally threw up my hands and said "Help!". At first I they laughed and after a glance at my dazed and confused look I got the support of the whole group. What I've learned, Rule umber 1: ASK FOR HELP! Before I knew it I had my cousin, an undergrad, sitting next to me giving me pointers on annotated bibliographies, my brother making me a plate of pistachio cream pie for motivation, from the corner end of the table my sisters Godmother was advising me on good sites to use for references, my son catching bugs and throwing them in the jungle "cuz your scared of them, right mom?". Today I have my 13 year old helping me figure out this blogging thing with the expedited online guidance of Dr. Rivera! Wow! All I can say is thank you! I know not everyone will hear or see my gratitude thru this blog, but I just want to express my appreciation to all, including my Cohort 5 who have been there since the beginning and we're still going strong!

  1. Kathleen,
I know how you feel. My sixteen year old son advised me that,"see you should of been going on Facebook". He then suggested that we call his girlfriend and ask her to help me. I appreciated the help, but I finally figured out that I had to log in FIRST, then my comments would be posted on the blog. I almost feel like I'm "high tech". haha

  2. Technology kind of scares me, especially when you get the hang of it. For example, this blog. I think I'm writing/ commenting a bit too much!

  3. Your brother did good in making a plate of that pistachio pie for you!
Lucky for you, when I asked for help (my husband was the only other person around), he gave me even more of a headache because after I've explained everything I did to try and accomplish what I needed to do, he gave me the very look of confusion I initially gave him!

  4. You're most welcome, Kathy! In this day and age, it's important to keep up with the times, especially with the ever-evolving technology in our society. Educational technology is meant to enhance instruction. Of course, nothing can ever replace the teacher who holds the power to make a difference! I wish you the best as you and the rest of the cohort capitalize on effectively navigating into technology to facilitate learning!

    Best regards,
    Dr. Rivera

  5. Ya, Kathy, I think we were both having meltdown-Tuesday! It is nice to see the resilience in our group. Now that YOU have it all figured out... teach ME!! I am happy that you have so much family around who love and support you, too. That has to mean so much to you, and I'm sure adds to your bubbly personality! ;)

  6. Reepill, don't try to explain anything to husband! LOL! I know from experience!!! I had my Vent-About-Hubby day last week, my poor cohort had to hear (read) about it! Love ya guys :) It's just hard for them comprehend everything we are doing. Look at how hard it was for us to "get it". I think we should enroll them in a cooking class and have them perfect making lunch and dinner for us!
