Well, this is different. I rarely go on facebook. I've only heard of tweeting, and now I am thrown into the world of blogging. To quote one of my favorite authors "uh-oh" (fulghum, 91).

I've had years of schooling, but this feels like the first day of kindergarten again. The dynamic of a strictly online class coupled with blogging is so new to me. Do you remember that feeling on the first day of school? Granted, it's different for everyone, but for me, I had this feeling of caution, unease, curiosity, wonder, and excitement. It was a big adventure. I don't know if all I will really need to know I'll learn in this "kindergarten", but I know I'll learn a lot. It will benefit my teaching career, and especially my kids. Cheers!

  1. I really don't like the online schooling, because there is not interaction, and it can be easily be forgotten. I guess with all the online schooling I do with Ashford University, it has become a bore because each week we are repeating the same process(Day one, log on and get assignments for the week, Day three, post discussions, day seven, attach written assignment and respond to two of your fellow classmates posts...BORING!!!) But I only have two more classes before I get my MPA, so I am pretty excited about that!

  2. Shirley,

Indeed, you will learn much regarding literacy strategies you can use to effectively enhance the learning experience of your students. The educational technology format will also provide enrichment to the learning process. Cheers!

  3. Blogging's not that bad. It's actually a very relieving activity. I started blogging in middle school on Xanga, and as a teenager, I discovered it really helped improve my writing and thought processes. It allowed me to express myself and my opinions in a "cyber tone" unique to me. I like how many teachers are incorporating it into their classrooms, because it gives us the opportunity to be creative. With the right guidance, that "first day of kindergarten" feeling will soon enough turn into "high school graduation."

We're in this together, so don't worry! :D

  4. Christine,

I like your last statement, "We're in this together, so don't worry!" The support you have for each other will make a big difference! Keep it up!

  5. I actually had to create a separate facebook for my cohort to keep in touch with them because the responses I was getting were a lot and I was missing some comments. I am able to manage it now. However, I have neglected my family facebook. I think I will introduce blogging to them because it is more organized. In fact, I think my niece has a blog but I never really asked her about it. She emails me her post in blog since I was not in her blog.
