Navigation

I'm still trying to get the hang of using various websites for this class. We have livetext, moodle forums, blogging, and then in each moodle forum it opens a new link. A bit of adjustment to do. Hopefully, my computer doesn't crash as I have 10 different windows opened for one day's of work in ED641. At the same time, I purchased my books via online downloads. So, a window is opened for it as well. I'm beginning to think now maybe I should transfer the book to my iTouch so that it can leave less strain for my hard drive to load the work on screen. I've printed most of the work provided on Microsoft or powerpoint so that it can help lessen confusion. Still trying to get the use of it. Hopefully in time navigating with the various sites and windows on computer can help ease the work lingo this summer class.

  2. Catherine,

As you know, this is an online class, so naturally we are using online tools to enhance the instruction of reading and writing.  To lessen the amount of windows you have open, try the following:

    I.  Log in to only our ED641 Moodleroom.  Do the required forums there.  Respond to 4-5 of your classmates' entries for the week for each forum.  Remember, you do not need to respond every single day for every single forum, unless you wish to.  The main thing is to reply to my discussion thread and then to 4-5 of classmates' entries.   If you're the only one who has posted, revisit the Moodleroom later.

After you've already posted 4-5 replies for a particular forum, then that will suffice for the week.  Again, additional forum entries beyond that are optional.  Be sure to also review all handouts, links, Powerpoints, etc. provided for the respective Moodleroom dates.

Once the aforementioned is completed, log out of Moodleroom.

II.  Thereafter, using the same window, log into our class blog and post your overall reflection on the Moodleroom activities you engaged in.  Be sure to also respond to 4-5 of your classmates' entries for the week.  Naturally, I encourage you to respond to more, but 4-5 entries will suffice for the minimum requirement for the week.

Do the following when blogging, especially since we've experienced a few glitches:

TO POST A NEW ENTRY IN THE MAIN BLOG:
    1.  SIGN IN TO WWW.GMAIL.COM AND DO NOT LOG OUT!
    2. Log in to www.blogger.com.
    3. Click on NEW POST.
    4. Type in your title and message in the compose box.
    5. Click on PUBLISH POST.

TO POST COMMENTS TO YOUR CLASSMATES' ENTRIES:
    1.   SIGN IN TO WWW.GMAIL.COM AND DO NOT LOG OUT!
    2. Log in to www.blogger.com.
    3. Click on View Blog.
    4. Click on comments to post a comment to a posting you would like to respond to.
    5. Type your comments in the Post a Comment box.
    6. Click on Post Comment.

III.  Only log in to LiveText if your activity is completed.  There's no need to log in to LiveText if you have nothing to upload.  Keep in mind that as long as you have all the actvities uploaded into our ED641 Portfolio by the end of the semester (Aug. 6), then you'll be fine.  So don't worry too much about LiveText for now.  However, do keep in mind that final grades will not be submitted if you do not submit your ED641 LiveText Portfolio.

IV.  After you've logged out of the previous online tool, e-mail me at your own convenience regarding our ED641 activities, inquiries, etc. with a touch of a button, any day, anytime.  I will do my best to respond to you as soon as possible.

The above tips should lessen the amount of windows you have open.  I hope it helps.  Good luck, and hang in there!

    Best regards,
    Dr. Rivera

  3. Thank you for this. I know it seems a lot for you to keep explaining it, and I thought I "HAD" it, yet you've just explained that it is not an everyday on every site, which I thought it was.
Appreciate the simplifying, as I too have too many windows open!!
